Kuma Sushi Bar: Elevate Your Sushi Experience in New Bern

One of the best sushi places I’ve ever been! And I’m a big sushi lover. I tend to judge restaurants by simple things such as the miso soup (which was outstanding) and the seaweed salad was just as good. The the sushi was undelivable and so fresh. It’s wonderful how they make it right there in front of you and they’re experienced chefs. Definite must if you’re a sushi lover visiting from out of town.

Pretty good sushi spot. Prices are a little high for me, but the protions were generous and the food was delicious. Service was good, and the menu is small but has enough variety.

Last night while I was in downtown New Bern, I finally decided to try this place. When I walked in, I was kindly greeted by the very polite staff and was seated at the sushi bar. I decided just to get something small just to see what it’s like so I ordered the salmon nigiri. The food was delicious and I was very impressed with the outstanding service and professional of this restaurant. I got a chance to meet the manager, Geoffrey. His hospitality and professionalism was second to none. I will definitely be back.

Kuma is a really delicious place for sushi and sake. It does get crowded during dinner time but feels authentic and welcoming. I personally like the no reservations part because every table and chairs tends to get filled. The professionalism and craftsmanship of the food and drinks are way above par.

Fabulous fabulous fabulous! The place is always packed when we’ve tried to go at night, so we were thrilled to see tables available at lunchtime today! We sat at the bar to get a good view of the sushi making area, and it was fascinating to watch. We ordered miso soup, the sassy roll, and the black dragon roll, and it was all delicious. This was not your garden variety miso soup, there was a depth to the flavor that I have never experienced before. The two rolls were equally excellent, and obviously very fresh. Both rolls were plated beautifully, and contained a perfect compliment of ingredients. We loved our visit to Kuma, and can’t wait to go back. What an exceptional addition to the New Bern restaurant scene!

Food was really good and our server was really nice. If you like alcohol they have a pretty decent drink menu. The restaurant is a little small so it can get loud or feel a little tight if there are a lot of people dinning in. Btw the Sassy roll is amazing!!! One of my favorites I ate According to my dad this was some of the best sushi he's had

I’ve been here several times since they opened in December and everything is delicious! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the warm sake is perfect on a chilly winter night! It’s a really unique, cool addition to downtown New Bern- a place to come for sake, sushi and amazing ramen. The service is great and the staff makes you feel at home! It’s an equally good spot for a family dinner, date night or a business lunch. Or just to come sit at the bar for a drink and some small talk. LOVE IT!!

My husband and I stopped in while in town for the day. Let me say this was some of the best sushi I’ve had since moving to the Eastern NC area. Service was 10/10, quality was 12/10!! Wish we lived closer so I could eat here more often, but we will definitely be back. Saw some other plates go out and they looked just as amazing. We sat at the bar and watched the sushi chefs do their job phenomenally. Yum!
